Opening Hours – Shops

 These vary widely, but you can usually count on shops opening from Monday to Saturday at around 10am (9am for food stores), closing for an hour or so between 1 and 3pm, and then reopening until around 8pm. Some department stores stay open until 9pm or 10pm and also open on Sundays (11am – 8pm), though this tends to be rather erratic.

What astonishes foreigners in Russia is that the number of supermarkets and shops are open all night long. It is never difficult to find a place to buy food or drink, even in the middle of the night. Look for the 24-sign, which means that the place is open around the clock.
